Writing for marks
Use headings, diagrams, step-wise solutions and keywords. Practise writing complete answers within time.
Subject-wise focus
Physics/Maths: derivations, numericals and step-wise working. Chemistry: reactions, named reactions and organic conversions. Biology: diagrams and definitions. Accounts: formats and practice. Humanities: structured answers with examples and maps or diagrams where relevant.
Using previous papers
Solve at least five years of previous papers under exam conditions. Mark questions that repeat in concept and revise those topics thoroughly. Check marking schemes to learn what examiners expect.
Exam day tips
Read the full paper first, attempt questions you know well first, keep time for revision, and write clearly with headings and underlines for key points.
Common mistakes in the final 100 days
- Starting new reference books instead of revising textbooks.
- Skipping sample papers because "the syllabus is not finished".
- Ignoring presentation: messy answers lose marks.
- Studying late into the night and sleeping in class.
- Comparing your progress with friends every day.
Fixing these simple habits often adds more marks than extra hours of study.
Balancing entrances
In the last 60 days before boards, give boards priority while keeping light entrance practice.
