Malegaon students and the career question
Malegaon is one of the largest towns in Nashik district, known across India for its powerloom and textile industry. Many families run their own businesses, and many students study in Urdu-medium or Marathi-medium schools up to Class 10. When the time comes to choose a stream, three questions come up again and again:
- Should my child continue in the family business, or take up a professional course?
- Can a student from Urdu or Marathi medium do well in NEET, JEE or MHT-CET?
- Is it better to study in Malegaon, move to Nashik, Dhule or Pune, or prepare online?
Each of these has a sensible answer, and the answer depends on the student, not on what neighbours or relatives did.
From Urdu or Marathi medium to entrance exams
Changing medium after Class 10 is common and very manageable with the right plan. A few facts that help families:
- NEET-UG is conducted in several languages, including Urdu and Marathi. A student can choose the language in which they are strongest.
- MHT-CET is a state exam. Check the official information brochure each year for the languages offered for your subject group.
- JEE Main is offered in English, Hindi and several regional languages, including Marathi and Urdu, but most books, coaching and online material are in English.
- Science terms (cell, force, molecule) are the same in English across all books. Building English science vocabulary in Class 11 is usually enough.
Students who start a little English reading every day in Class 10 make the switch much more smoothly.

Choosing a stream after Class 10
Do not choose science only because a friend chose it, and do not avoid it only because maths feels hard today. A simple way to decide:
| If the student... | Consider |
|---|---|
| Enjoys biology, is patient, likes helping people | Science (PCB): MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BUMS, nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy |
| Enjoys maths and how machines work | Science (PCM): engineering, diploma, B.Sc, architecture |
| Likes trade, numbers and business | Commerce: B.Com, BBA, CA, CS, banking, family business with professional skills |
| Likes languages, people, society, design | Arts: law, teaching, journalism, design, civil services |
A career assessment test checks interests, aptitude and personality together, which gives the family a clearer starting point than marks alone.
Careers connected to Malegaon's economy

- Commerce and accounting: B.Com with GST and taxation skills, CA, CMA.
- Management: BBA followed by an MBA for those who want to grow the family business.
- Healthcare: BUMS (Unani medicine) through NEET is a popular choice in Malegaon, along with MBBS, BDS, nursing and pharmacy.
- Teaching and civil services: D.El.Ed, B.Ed, and state and central government exams.

Frequently asked questions
Can an Urdu-medium student become a doctor?
Yes. NEET-UG is available in Urdu, and many Urdu-medium students qualify every year. Strong NCERT preparation in Class 11 and 12 matters more than the medium.
Is BUMS a good career?
BUMS (Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery) is a recognised AYUSH degree admitted through NEET. Graduates can practise, work in AYUSH hospitals and take government posts. Discuss scope and fees with a counsellor before choosing it.
Should my child shift to Nashik for Class 11?
Only if the local junior college cannot offer the subjects or support needed. Many students study locally and use online preparation. Weigh the cost, safety and the child's comfort.
Which language are sessions held in?
