Career decisions for Kolkata students
Kolkata has a long academic tradition and excellent institutions in science, engineering, management and the arts. Students often weigh WBJEE and JEE for engineering, NEET for medicine, and strong options in pure sciences, economics and humanities. Counselling helps families compare these paths with care.
What to look for in a career counsellor
When you look for the best career counselling in Kolkata, use this checklist for any counsellor:
- Do they start with a proper assessment of interests, aptitude and personality?
- Do you get a written report to keep?
- Do they understand West Bengal admissions as well as national exams?
- Will they meet parents too, and answer questions honestly, including "this path may not suit you"?
- Do they support you again at results and admission time?

Boards and entrance exams to know
West Bengal Board (WBBSE/WBCHSE), CBSE and ICSE/ISC are common. WBJEE decides state engineering seats; JEE, NEET-UG, CUET-UG and ISI's own admission tests are also important.
Careers linked to the local economy
Kolkata's economy includes IT services, finance and banking, port and logistics, manufacturing and a rich culture and media sector. Careers in statistics, economics, finance, IT, design, media and teaching are well supported.
A Kolkata tip
Strong students in maths often consider statistics and data science (for example through ISI) as well as engineering. Explore these early, because their entrance tests differ from JEE.
How counselling works for Kolkata families
Our counsellors work with Kolkata families online through video or phone sessions. The student takes the career assessment for their class online, the counsellor studies the 45-page report, and then student and parents meet the counsellor in a 1:1 session. You leave with a written plan: stream or course, entrance exams, backups and a timeline.
