Career decisions for Dehradun students
Dehradun is known for its residential schools, defence institutions and growing universities. Students from Uttarakhand and other states study here. Many are interested in defence, forestry, petroleum and energy, and hill-state development careers, along with engineering and medicine.
What to look for in a career counsellor
When you look for the best career counselling in Dehradun, use this checklist for any counsellor:
- Do they start with a proper assessment of interests, aptitude and personality?
- Do you get a written report to keep?
- Do they understand Uttarakhand admissions as well as national exams?
- Will they meet parents too, and answer questions honestly, including "this path may not suit you"?
- Do they support you again at results and admission time?

Careers linked to the local economy
Tourism and hospitality, defence services, forestry and environment, energy, education and IT are important. Careers in defence, environmental science, hotel management, geology and teaching are popular in the region.
A Uttarakhand tip
Students interested in defence should plan early: NDA eligibility depends on age and the Class 12 stream for some wings. Check the UPSC notice and plan your stream in Class 11 accordingly.
How counselling works for Dehradun families
Our counsellors work with Dehradun families online through video or phone sessions. The student takes the career assessment for their class online, the counsellor studies the 45-page report, and then student and parents meet the counsellor in a 1:1 session. You leave with a written plan: stream or course, entrance exams, backups and a timeline. Sessions are available in Hindi and English.
